Sip and nosh, play games or dance the night away at Charlotte\u2019s newest entertainment venue.<\/p>\n

South End Hideaway<\/a><\/b> officially opened May 14 at the corner of West Bland and Mint streets. The sprawling two-story locale was most recently home to Slingshot Social Club<\/a>, which closed in late March after six years in business.<\/p>\n

Olsen Hospitality Partners<\/a> acquired the space soon afterward and has wasted little time reimagining it as the city\u2019s next hotspot.<\/p>\n

Designed as an \u201cintentional social destination,\u201d South End Hideaway will lean into a relaxed hangout vibe during the day, then transition to a \u201cdance-driven environment\u201d with live DJs at night.<\/p>\n

Creative director Jabari Bradford described it as a bar, arcade, dance hall and lounge under one roof.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really bringing the best elements of these four aspects together into one space … because it\u2019s so massive,\u201d Bradford told CharlotteFive.<\/p>\n

The 15,000-square-foot space includes two full-service bars, a kitchen and two dance floors (one upstairs, and the other downstairs). There are plenty of games, too.<\/p>\n

Think: darts, billiards, corn hole, cards and other group activities.<\/p>\n

You can also catch your favorite sports game with friends on one of the venue\u2019s 27 TVs or reserve space for a private event.<\/p>\n

The goal is \u201chospitality first,\u201d Bradford said. \u201cFor us, we\u2019ll make sure that our customers feel like they\u2019re at home. And that plays a part in our furniture setup \u2014 everything is living room-style, very cozy, very lax.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we want is a neighborhood feel in a luxury space.\u201d<\/p>\n

The food menu is still evolving but currently features artisan grilled cheeses and other light bites. Bradford said the venue is in the process of bringing on a new chef who specializes in Nicaraguan cuisine.<\/p>\n

As far as drinks, customers will find the cocktails both \u201cincredible and affordable,\u201d with average pricing around $13. Local beers are also on draft alongside a curated list of wines.<\/p>\n

For the music lovers, DJ J Good serves as South End Hideaway\u2019s resident DJ. The venue, which focuses on House music at its core, will also host local DJs to come in and spin.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s different realms of (house music) and we\u2019re gonna hit all of them, as well as the timeless music that everyone loves to sing along to,\u201d Bradford said. Expect pop hits from the early 2000s and today\u2019s Billboard top hits.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than anything else, we want people to feel comfortable,\u201d he told CharlotteFive. \u201cWe want people to feel welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n
