A popular Charlotte bakery is closing for an extra day this week because the heat<\/u><\/a> inside the building has become too much for employees.<\/p>\n

Villani\u2019s Bakery<\/u><\/a> announced on Facebook that it will remain closed Tuesday because its air conditioning can\u2019t keep up with the heat coming from the kitchen.<\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service<\/u><\/a>, Monday\u2019s high is expected to reach 95 degrees, with heat index values as high as 105. Tuesday\u2019s high is forecast to be 93 degrees, with heat index values up to 103.<\/p>\n

The bakery, which is normally closed on Mondays, said the conditions are no longer safe or comfortable for staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs much as we hate to close, taking care of our team has to come first,\u201d the bakery wrote. \u201cWe are so sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding more than you know.\u201d<\/p>\n

The extreme heat has also forced other schedule changes across the Charlotte area. The Town of Pineville<\/u><\/a> canceled its July First Friday vendor event because of the heat advisory, while Block Love CLT<\/u><\/a> postponed its July 3 food truck event, asking people to \u201cpray for those working in this heat on these food trucks.\u201d<\/p>\n
