Busy streets and intersections will be closed<\/a> in uptown Charlotte Saturday for the city\u2019s \u201cStars and Stripes Spectacular<\/a>\u201d Fourth of July bash at Truist Field<\/a>, police said.<\/p>\n

The celebration will feature the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra<\/a> and WBT\u2019s annual SkyShow fireworks display. The fireworks show is the largest in the Southeast, organizers said when they announced the event in April.<\/p>\n

These streets will be closed beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department:<\/p>\n

\u2022 South Mint Street from West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to West Trade Street.<\/p>\n

\u2022 West Fourth Street from South Poplar Street to South Graham Street.<\/p>\n

The streets will reopen by 12:30 a.m., Sunday, police said.<\/p>\n

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management officials urged visitors<\/a> to such large gatherings to be prepared.<\/p>\n

\u201cStay aware of your surroundings,\u201d agency officials posted on social media site X Saturday morning. \u201cLarge celebrations can get crowded, so have a meeting spot, keep an eye on your group, and report emergencies by calling 911.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Mecklenburg EMS issued this general advice:<\/p>\n

\u201cStay hydrated in the heat and let the pros handle the fireworks (this is not the year to lose a finger).\u201d<\/p>\n

A heat advisory<\/a> will be in effect for the Charlotte region from noon to 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

\u201cHot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,\u201d NWS meteorologists said in an alert.<\/p>\n

\u201cWear lightweight and loose fitting clothing,\u201d the NWS advised. \u201cTry to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n
