Maman NYC, the French-inspired bakery and caf\u00e9 serving salads, sandwiches and those famous Oprah-approved nutty chocolate chip cookies, finally has an opening date<\/a> for its first Charlotte location.<\/p>\n

The all-day caf\u00e9 opens Wednesday, May 20,<\/b> at Commonwealth in Plaza Midwood, according to a news release sent to CharlotteFive.<\/p>\n

The sprawling 4180-square-foot space seats up to 128, with both indoor and outdoor options. Expect full-service brunch on the weekends, plus space for private events.<\/p>\n

Alongside daily classics, coffee, soups and salads, Maman Plaza Midwood will offer two Charlotte-exclusive pastries:<\/p>\n

The NYC-based brand is known for its French countryside aesthetic and plans to bring that same flair to its newest location. Think: locally sourced antiques from North Carolina, custom toile-printed espresso machines, floral installations from botanical art studio Floratorium and imported blue and white counter tiles.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaza Midwood\u2019s vibrant and diverse community makes it the perfect fit for maman\u2019s first location in North Carolina!\u201d Maman cofounder, Elisa Marshall, said in the release.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to join such a beautiful neighborhood and share our unique blend of French-inspired cuisine and warm, inviting atmosphere with you all.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just the first of a few caf\u00e9s Maman has planned for the Queen City, CharlotteFive previously reported.<\/p>\n

Registrations filed with the North Carolina Secretary of State\u2019s Office in January suggest Maman is looking to open at least two other Charlotte caf\u00e9s<\/a>: one at the Atherton Mill shopping mall in South End, and another in the Eastover\/Myers Park area.<\/p>\n

Maman confirmed the additional caf\u00e9s to CharlotteFive but said it was too early to discuss the timing for those openings.<\/p>\n

Maman Plaza Midwood will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.<\/p>\n
