After massive, devastating earthquakes killed hundreds in Venezuela, some local groups and a business want to help survivors.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s where you can donate in the Charlotte area.<\/p>\n

This east Charlotte bakery, located at 4405 Central Avenue in Suite C, is collecting donations.<\/p>\n

Also, you can donate online to a nonprofit affiliated with the bakery and founded by its owner, By Immigrant Hands.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThey need us, and we can do it together,\u201d bakery owner Manuel \u201cManolo\u201d Betancur said in a Facebook video.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n

Betancur said he is looking to partner with a bakery in Venezuela as well.<\/p>\n

The Alliance of Venezuelans in Charlotte and a number of other groups are asking for medicine, first aid supplies, medical equipment, personal hygiene items, diapers, bedding and other essentials that will be sent to areas affected by the earthquakes.<\/p>\n

Those donations can be dropped off at The Latin Corner in Pineville. That\u2019s at 705 Main Street. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cOrganizers invite the community to join this solidarity initiative and contribute items that can help those facing the consequences of the disaster,\u201d the alliance said in a Facebook post.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n

You can also donate online to Samaritan\u2019s Purse<\/u><\/a>, an evangelical Christian organization run by Billy Graham\u2019s son.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is going to be a long-term effort. I think we\u2019re only just beginning to understand the full extent of the destruction in Caracas and La Guaira. Multiple hospitals are damaged or overwhelmed, roads have been split wide open, and hundreds of buildings have collapsed,\u201d Samaritan\u2019s Purse President Franklin Graham said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Samaritan\u2019s Purse says it will provide relief in \u201ca variety of ways,\u201d including medical care and clean water.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we minister, we are pointing people, young and old, to the eternal hope found only in Jesus Christ,\u201d the organization\u2019s donation page says.<\/p>\n
