New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson <\/b>is issuing a message to fans still criticizing Taylor Swift<\/b><\/a>\u2019s appearance at the 2026 NBA Finals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to say something to the Swifties: She\u2019s a really good one,\u201d Brunson, 29, said in a postgame interview<\/span><\/a> on Saturday, June 13, after winning the NBA championship. \u201cCut her some slack. It\u2019s all good, I promise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brunson led the Knicks to victory 94-90 over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, clinching the NBA Finals title for the first time in decades. The Knicks won four out of five games in the series.<\/p>\n

Swift, 36, attended Game 4<\/span><\/a> at New York City\u2019s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, June 10, where she sat courtside with pals Este Haim, Alana Haim <\/b>and Mariska Hargitay <\/b>to see the Knicks\u2019 down-to-the-wire win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got home and was like, \u2018You gotta stop screaming, you\u2019re screaming too much, you\u2019re screaming instead of talking, you\u2019re too excited,\u201d Swift said in her Songwriters Hall of Fame speech<\/span><\/a> the next night, revealing she ended up yelling during \u201c100 percent\u201d of the game. \u201cThen, I got to witness the amazing performances I saw tonight, and I just kept screaming and I never stopped screaming and [my raspy voice] is what you get. I make no apologies for that: I\u2019ve had a blast.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Swift had undoubtedly the time of her life at the NBA Finals matchup, her attendance initially raised eyebrows.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl,\u201d Knicks analyst Monica McNutt <\/b>was caught saying on a hot mic ahead of Wednesday\u2019s tip-off.<\/p>\n

McNutt, 36, later clarified her remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if you call out race being super peace of mind, I\u2019m just making an observation of what is happening,\u201d the broadcaster said on the Friday, June 12, episode<\/span><\/a> of The Breakfast Club<\/i>. \u201cQuickly people were like, \u2018Oh, you\u2019re racist.\u2019 No, I\u2019m kind of stating a fact. But we have had to live in the fact and it makes everybody else uncomfortable. I didn\u2019t even remember saying it, y\u2019all.\u201d<\/p>\n

McNutt continued, \u201cIt was just like, \u2018Oh girl, get out of here. I ain\u2019t seen you all year.\u2019 But words are powerful, the way the story gets told. All of these things come into play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift has not addressed the backlash, though has received plenty of support from Brunson, his family and his teammates.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was there with her custom T-shirts. They\u2019re all matching,\u201d Brunson\u2019s wife, Ali Marks Brunson<\/b>, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/i><\/span><\/a><\/i>earlier this week, referring to Haim\u2019s DIY Knicks merch. \u201cSitting next to Mariska, how amazing is that? That\u2019s another dynamic duo right there. It was fun. She was really in it. She\u2019s a true fan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh Hart<\/b>\u2019s wife, Shannon Hart<\/b>, also told Us <\/i>that it was \u201creally cool\u201d to see Swift support the Knicks.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust seeing how into the game she was, that was really cool,\u201d Shannon, 31, quipped in June ahead of Game 5. \u201cJumping up and down, hugging each other. [By the end], your heart\u2019s beating, you\u2019re in disbelief. It went from sitting there and everyone\u2019s quiet to now everyone\u2019s screaming. Even after the game, the guys were like, \u2018How did that just happen?\u2019 They were in disbelief and they were on the court. It was pretty insane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift, however, wasn\u2019t present for Game 5 on Saturday, instead catching a Broadway performance<\/span><\/a> of Oh Mary! <\/i>with fianc\u00e9 Travis Kelce<\/b>.<\/p>\n
