Upscale tapas and wine bar quietly closes after 4 years in Ballantyne
Tap & Vine has quietly shut the doors on one of its Charlotte restaurants.
The location at 7828 Rea Road, in the Stone Crest at Piper Glen shopping plaza in Ballantyne, was listed as “permanently closed” as of Thursday, Oct. 15, though its last day of operation was unclear.

A Reddit user posted about the closure earlier this week, saying the upscale wine and tapas bar appeared to be “closed for good.” The Stonecrest restaurant was also no longer listed as a location on Tap & Vine’s website.
CharlotteFive reached out to owner Joe Maus for more information and was awaiting a response.
Tap & Vine debuted in Ballantyne in 2022 after moving into the former Civetta Italian Kitchen + Bar space, CharlotteFive previously reported. The restaurant offered a varied list of wines by the glass, plus burgers, salads, tacos and signature tapas.

“It’s a place you walk in and feel at home,” Maus told the Charlotte Business Journal in 2023. “We just feel like there’s a need for that in Charlotte and that’s why we’re growing it.”
Tap & Vine also has locations in Indian Trail and Quail Hollow (South Charlotte), both of which remain open.
