Vote for The Observer’s high school football offensive player of the week (10.02.26)

Here are the nominees for The Observer’s high school football offensive player of the week after Week 6 of the season. Nominees come from games played from Sept. 25.

Davis Beam, East Lincoln: In a 63-24 win over Bunker Hill, Beam completed 28 of 33 passes for 386 yards and five touchdowns. He ran for a sixth score.

Noah Belote, Hickory Grove: In a 30-0 win over South Wake Christian, Belote had seven catches for 115 yards, plus a fumble recovery and an interception on defense. He became the school’s all-time leader in interceptions.

Shawn Blackshear, Chambers: In a 28-0 win over Butler, Blackshear ran 14 times for 118 yards and a touchdown.

Gavin Bronikowski, Providence Day: In a 34-14 win over Cannon, the junior quarterback was 22 of 29 passing for 287 yards and a touchdown.

Micah Crenshaw, Metrolina Christian: Crenshaw had 172 yards total offense in Friday’s 17-7 win over North Raleigh Christian: 1 yard rushing, 75 yards receiving and 96 yards in kick returns. On defense, he had an interception.

James Drayton, Myers Park: A 6-3, 220-pound sophomore everyone calls “Shaq,” Drayton ran 19 times for 123 yards and four touchdowns in a 32-29 win over Charlotte Country Day. Watch his interview on Talking Preps.

Nayven Egbert, South Mecklenburg: In a 48-25 upset win over Hopewell, Egbert ran 22 times for 155 yards and three touchdowns. He caught three passes for 12 yards.

Aury Greenfield, Jay M. Robinson: In a 55-7 win over Salisbury, Greenfield was 12 of 14 passing for 200 yards and three touchdowns. He ran five times for 75 yards and another score.

Lemar Grier, AL Brown: In a 49-0 win over Berry, Grier — a 5-foot-9, 200-pound senior — ran nine times for 133 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 15 yards per carry. For the season, Grier has 83 carries for 780 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averages 9.4 yards per carry. Watch his interview on Talking Preps.

Jamarcus Hairston, Harding: In a 30-27 win over Cox Mill, Hairston — 5-7 and 235 pounds — ran 21 times for 157 yards and a touchdown. Harding ended a two-game losing streak and won its second game of the season. Harding also won two games last season under coach Terrence Cunningham after winning two games total the previous three seasons. The Rams haven’t won three games in a season since 2022.

Osazee Inneh, Ballantyne Ridge: Inneh, a sophomore running back, ran 29 times for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-21 win over East Mecklenburg. Ballantyne Ridge won its third straight game and set a school-record for wins in a season.

Hudson Irwin, Northwest Cabarrus: In a 41-14 win over East Rowan, Irwin completed 17 of 22 passes for 318 yards and two touchdowns. He ran two times for 44 yards and another score.

Colton Laskowski, Hickory Ridge: In a 28-0 win over West Cabarrus, Laskowski had four catches for 144 yards and a touchdown. Among those was a 93-yard scoring catch.

Troy Logan, Charlotte Latin: In a 39-34 loss to S.C. public school Spartanburg, Logan completed 26 of 40 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. He ran 11 times for 73 yards.

Rashad Lynch, Lincolnton: In a 72-6 win over Bessemer City, Lynch, a senior QB, completed 11 of 13 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns.

Maxton Miller, Charlotte Christian: In a 51-21 win over Ravenscroft, Miller had four touchdowns. He ran nine times for 72 yards and three scores. He caught five passes for 49 yards and a score. He also had interception return for a touchdown.

Otavio Oliveira, Providence: In a 46-0 win over Rocky River, Oliveira caught five passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

Raivon Pauling, Olympic: Pauling ran 21 times for 185 yards and a touchdown in a 22-6 win over Central Cabarrus. Olympic won its third straight and set up a huge game at AL Brown Friday that could determine a conference champion.

Jaequan Timmons, Union Academy: In a 36-21 win over South Stanly, Timmons caught five passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns. This season, Timmons has caught 26 passes for 684 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Cooper Wise, Piedmont: Wise ran 23 times for 367 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 16 yards per carry in Friday’s 55-28 win over Cuthbertson. Piedmont won its first conference game in five years and got its first win over Cuthbertson in 16 years.
