South Charlotte taco restaurant has closed, facing eviction over unpaid rent
Condado Tacos has permanently closed its Promenade on Providence location and is facing eviction over $79,108 in past-due rent and other lease charges.

The location has been removed from its website, and a message at the phone number for the restaurant says, “This location has been permanently closed.”
Promenade Shopping Center LLC filed a summary ejectment complaint Sept. 14 in Mecklenburg County court, alleging that Condado breached its lease and refused to surrender the 4,500-square-foot space, The Charlotte Business Journal reported. The restaurant’s monthly rent was $15,377.50.
According to the filing, the landlord is seeking to take back the space and may pursue additional damages, CBJ reported. The filing names Condado Tacos 50 LLC, as well as other occupants at the Providence Road address.
Condado is the second Promenade on Providence tenant to close in as many months. Ikea shut down its small-format store there at the end of August, The Charlotte Observer reported.

The nearly 438,000-square-foot shopping center includes tenants such as The Home Depot, The Fresh Market, Jos. A. Bank and Anytime Fitness.
Condado opened the Promenade location in June 2023, CharlotteFive reported. Its closure leaves the South End location as Condado’s only Charlotte restaurant. The company previously said it hoped to open five locations in the Charlotte market, CBJ reported.
The Ohio-based chain is known for build-your-own tacos, creative drinks and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The chain has 49 locations across six states, according to its website.
Condado Tacos did not respond to a request for comment from CharlotteFive by the time of publication.
