Crash closes Interstate 85 lanes in Charlotte for hours. ‘Traffic impact high.’

A crash closed three of the four lanes on southbound Interstate 85 in Charlotte for several hours Saturday morning before the highway reopened, state highway officials said.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. just south of the W.T. Harris Boulevard interchange, according to DriveNC.gov, the state’s real-time traffic information site.

“Expected impact to traffic is High,” according to the site.

The highway reopened around 11 a.m., officials said.

Police have released no details about the crash.

At 8:45 a.m. Saturday, a wreck closed two of the five lanes on Interstate 77 northbound in Charlotte near mile marker 10.8, highway officials said. The right two lanes were blocked for about an hour, according to DriveNC.gov.
