Innocent bystander ‘crushed’ when driver uses her car as a weapon, NC police say

An innocent bystander “was pinned and crushed” by a car door when a Nissan Sentra was used as a weapon during an argument, according to investigators in North Carolina.

It happened Saturday, Sept. 5, in a parking lot near ECU Medical Center in Greenville, and the man suffering serious injuries, the Greenville Police Department said in an arrest warrant.

The injuries occurred after Sharon Strong, 18, of Greenville, began arguing with a woman and stated: “I’m gonna run this ho over,” an arrest warrant states.

“She got into the driver seat and put her vehicle into gear,” court documents report. “(The) defendant exited the vehicle which continued to move forward, colliding with the passenger door of a white Dodge Durango.”

Melvin Adams “was pinned and crushed between the door and door frame of the Durango, sustaining injuries to his upper and lower body,” officials said.

“Adams was not involved in the dispute,” police said.

Investigators have not released details of what caused the argument.

Strong has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, disorderly conduct, communicating threats and injury to personal property, police said.

Greenville is about an 80-mile drive southeast from downtown Raleigh.
