Charlotte-area storms could be severe, with possibly damaging winds, NWS says
Severe storms with potentially “damaging wind gusts” are forecast to move from the mountains into the Charlotte region Friday, including Rock Hill and other parts of Upstate South Carolina, National Weather Service meteorologists said.

Storms are expected to form in the mountains Friday afternoon “and gradually push east through mid-Friday evening,” NWS forecasters said on social media site X.
“Another round will develop on Saturday, but coverage will be more isolated,” according to the NWS. “By Sunday and Monday, few storms will be able to develop, and a hot, humid pattern will set in for the new work week.
Showers and a thunderstorm are likely in Charlotte mainly after 5 p.m. Friday and again after 2 p.m., Saturday, according to the NWS forecast. The chance both days stands at 60%.

Mostly sunny skies are then expected through the work week, with stifling temperatures by mid-week, the forecast shows.
Highs are expected to climb from 87 on Friday and 84 on Saturday to 88 on Sunday, 92 on Monday, 94 on Tuesday, 96 on Wednesday and 97 on Thursday, according to the NWS.
