Woman arrested for murder after teenaged female fatally shot in Rock Hill: Police

A 22-year-old woman has been arrested for murder and a weapon charge after a teenager was fatally shot in Rock Hill Saturday morning, police said.

Officers arrested Jamorria A’riel McClinton at a relative’s home after the shooting, according to the Rock Hill Police Department.

The 18-year-old woman died before 4 a.m. at a house in the 800 block of Horseman Drive, police said. The residential area is west of downtown south of Main Street.

The name of the 18-year-old female killed in the shooting has not been released by police or the York County Coroner.

Responding police found the victim on the back patio of the house with a fatal gunshot wound, Lt. Michael Chavis said.

Police said they found the gun believed to be used in the shooting at the scene. However, officials did not release any details about a possible motive, if the victim and suspect knew each other, or how investigators identified McClinton as the alleged shooter.

McClinton remains jailed pending a Rock Hill Municipal Court hearing scheduled for Sunday.
