The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close the intersection of S.C. 557 and Kingsbury Road on July 27. A section of Kingsbury just south of the intersection will close for 15 days. The road work will realign the intersection.

A 1.3-mile detour will use S.C. 557, Paraham Road and S.C. 55.

Kingsbury Road, like Paraham, connects the large highways in Lake Wylie that run through the Three Points and Five Points intersections — S.C. 49, S.C. 55 and S.C. 557. Kingsbury is east of Paraham, making it a quicker cut-through option.

State traffic counts don’t list a figure for Kingsbury, but S.C. 55 just east of where the intersection will close sees 9,500 vehicle trips per day. S.C. 49, or Charlotte Highway, just east of Kingsbury gets 6,800 trips per day. Paraham Road, parallel to and just west of Kingsbury, sees 4,800 daily trips.
