911 call at 7 a.m. Sunday leads to body in southeast Charlotte, CMPD says

A body was discovered when police were alerted to an assault with a deadly weapon early Sunday in southeast Charlotte.

It happened around 7 a.m. Sunday in the 7100 block of Wallace Road, which is just west of East Independence Boulevard.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with apparent life-threatening injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased by MEDIC on scene,” CMPD said in a July 12 news release.

“Detectives recovered a firearm at the scene. At this time, detectives are not seeking any additional individuals in connection with this incident.”

Medic ambulance reports two additional patients were treated at the scene for injuries not related to gunfire. Their injuries were not life-threatening, according to a social media post.

“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective,” CMPD said. “The public can also leave information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.”
