Police identify the man who was shot dead in Charlotte on Friday night

A man died, and another person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Charlotte Friday night, police said.

Just before 8 p.m., officers called to the 100 block of West 30th Street near North Tryon Street found the pair with life-threatening injuries, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release.

One of the persons died at a hospital, police said.

On Saturday, police identified the man as 20-year-old Cameron Elijah Gilliard-Robinson and said his family has been notified.

Police have not named the other person who was shot or said if they have a suspect in custody or are looking for one.
