Piedmont Ear, Nose & Throat Associates is based in Winston-Salem with locations in Kernersville, Clemmons, Elkin and Mount Airy. All offices will remain open for patients.

“This transition will make it easier for patients and providers to securely access and manage medical records, improve coordination with other specialty and hospital partners, and support convenient online appointment scheduling and communication,” Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates said in a statement.

Both groups provide treatment for head and neck cancer, hearing loss, sleep disorders and additional ear, nose and throat conditions, among other specialties.

A spokesperson for the Charlotte group did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the cost of the deal.

With 18 locations in the Charlotte region, Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates had over 150 providers prior to Piedmont’s addition. Piedmont Ear, Nose & Throat Associates has 13 physicians, five physician assistants, six audiologists and one hearing instrument specialist, according to its website.

“Joining CEENTA allows us to keep caring for our communities in the same locations with the same teams, while giving patients the added benefits of integrated technology, expanded specialty collaboration, and long-term stability,” Dr. J. Lucas Inman from the Piedmont group said in a statement.

Originally established as a specialty hospital in 1923, the Charlotte medical group conducts clinical research on eye disorders and ear, nose and throat disorders. The Piedmont practice was a result of a 1999 merger between Forsyth Head & Neck Associates and Salem Ear, Nose & Throat Associates.

Piedmont Ear, Nose & Throat Associates will transfer patient communication to the Epic electronic health records platform, used by its new parent company and regional health systems like Atrium Health and Novant Health.
